The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed reports of a planned reshuffle of its parliamentary leadership, reaffirming its confidence in Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin and his team.

The party says no such discussions have taken place.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 29, 2026, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong described the reports as false and a deliberate attempt to create confusion within the Minority Caucus.

“Let me state it categorically. The party has never had any meeting. The party has never thought about even deliberating to change the leadership in Parliament. We have not,” Mr. Frimpong stated.

He said the NPP remained fully satisfied with the performance of the Minority leadership team headed by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu.

“We are overwhelmingly satisfied with the work being done by the leadership in Parliament led by Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin and will continue to give them the necessary support needed, together with our flagbearer, to win the elections in 2028,” Kodua assured.

The NPP General Secretary cautioned individuals spreading what he described as unfounded claims aimed at creating division within the party and its parliamentary caucus that they would not succeed.

He stressed that attempts to sow discord among the party’s leadership would not succeed, reaffirming the party’s commitment to unity and effective opposition to work in Parliament.

Kodua Frimpong’s remarks follow widespread speculations that the NPP was considering changes to its leadership in Parliament, including plans to replace Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.

He accused persons behind the reports of trying to sow division among the leadership of the Minority Caucus, insisting that the move will not succeed.

“Those who are busily peddling lies and trying to create this confusion among the leadership in Parliament and the mighty Minority Caucus will not succeed,” he added.

According to him, the party remains satisfied with the current leadership of the Minority Caucus in Parliament and has not considered any move to replace them.
