A shocking scandal involving false credentials, political intrigue, and personal betrayal has captured the attention of Ghanaian social and political circles.
The center of the controversy is a dramatic exposé by broadcast journalist and political commentator, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, who has publicly accused his ex-girlfriend, Anne Sansa Daly, of being a fraud masquerading as a medical doctor.
The scandal reached its climax when Afrifa, on his live program For The Records on Monday, laid bare a detailed account of Daly’s alleged deception, accusing her of faking her academic and medical qualifications, manipulating public figures, and engaging in alleged blackmail in collaboration with the fugitive Ghanaian-American broadcaster Kevin Taylor.
The Background
Anne Sansa Daly gained notoriety in Ghanaian media as “Dr. Daly,” hosting health segments and appearing on GHOne TV to offer medical advice.
She also took part in international forums, including a women’s health conference in 2024 where then NDC running Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was in attendance, identifying herself as a U.S.-trained physician.
However, cracks in her credibility began to appear after a formal petition to the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (MDC) in March 2025 sought to verify her qualifications in apparent readiness for a ministerial appointment.
The MDC, in a letter dated April 7, confirmed that Daly is not a registered medical practitioner in Ghana and holds no license under the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857).
She was also found to have no registration or practice rights in Ghana.
Further investigations extended to the United States, where Daly claimed to have studied and practiced.
But inquiries made to the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) debunked her assertions.
The ABFM responded that the certificate Daly had presented as proof of certification was fraudulent, bore significant discrepancies, and was never issued by the board.
NHIA Board Controversy
Despite these red flags, Daly’s name appeared on a list of newly appointed members to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Board.
Her appointment, dated May 19, 2025, was followed by widespread criticism, prompting public outrage and calls for investigation.
The public pressure led to swift action from the Office of the President, which revoked her appointment through a letter dated May 23, 2025 after her inauguration.
The letter, signed by President Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama, omitted her “Dr.” title — a subtle but clear repudiation of her claims to medical legitimacy.
Her replacement, Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, was swiftly named.
The Ministry of Health later issued a press release clarifying that Daly was never officially sworn in, distancing itself from the growing controversy.
The ministry emphasized that it is committed to transparency in all public appointments.
Afrifa’s Explosive Allegations
The real drama unfolded on social media and Afrifa’s show, where the journalist publicly revealed that he had previously dated Daly.
He accused her of being planted by political figures — specifically Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and MD of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) — to destroy his reputation.
Afrifa alleged that Daly falsely reported him to the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police, claiming he was in possession of explicit images of her and attempting to blackmail her.
He said this led to his arrest and the seizure of his personal electronic devices.
However, according to Okatakyie Afrifa, no incriminating evidence was found.
Afrifa-Mensah claims this was part of a broader conspiracy engineered by Sammy Gyamfi and Daly, in collaboration with Kevin Taylor, to silence his criticism of the controversial GoldBod deal — a project he compared to the Agyapa deal under the previous government.
Kevin Taylor Connection
Central to the scandal is Daly’s alleged alliance with Kevin Taylor, host of the Loud Silence show.
Afrifa claims Daly regularly shared confidential information with Taylor, who then used it to launch smear campaigns against political opponents, including Afrifa himself.
He also hinted at personal troubles between Daly and Taylor’s family, alleging that Taylor’s wife nearly divorced him after discovering intimate chats between him and Daly.
These allegations, though unverified, have added a layer of scandal to the already sensational case.
Public Reaction
The revelations have provoked intense debate across Ghana, with many questioning how someone with unverifiable qualifications could rise to such public prominence and secure a board position in a key health institution.
The scandal has reignited concerns about weak vetting systems, political manipulation, and the exploitation of media platforms for personal or political agendas.
Looking Ahead
As investigations into Daly’s credentials continue, many are calling for legal action to deter similar cases in the future.
The NHIA appointment process is also under scrutiny, with calls for more rigorous checks and accountability.
While Daly has gone silent, deactivating her social media accounts, the story continues to evolve.
Whether it ends in prosecution, further revelations, or quiet disappearance from public discourse remains to be seen.
