Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organising and Elections Committee (NOEC) Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah has called on members of the party to close ranks following the successful conclusion of the 2026 National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
Mr Opare-Ansah, in a message issued after the conference, congratulated the newly elected national officers and all aspirants who participated in the internal elections, stressing that the conclusion of the contest should mark the beginning of a renewed effort to rebuild and strengthen the party.
According to him, the successful organisation of the conference represents an important milestone in the NPP’s ongoing reorganisation. He congratulated the new national officers for earning the confidence of delegates but cautioned that their election comes with significant responsibilities as they assume leadership of the party.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to all our newly elected National Officers. The confidence reposed in you by the delegates comes with an enormous responsibility,” he said, while wishing them wisdom, strength and success in their new roles.
Mr Opare-Ansah also acknowledged the efforts of all the unsuccessful aspirants, noting that internal elections inevitably produce winners and candidates who do not secure victory.
He, however, stressed that the strength of the NPP lies in its ability to reunite after internal contests.
“The contest is over; the work of rebuilding, strengthening and positioning the NPP for the future continues,” he stated.
His comments come at a time when the party is seeking to move beyond the intense competition that characterised the national executive elections and concentrate on rebuilding its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
As Chairman of the National Organising and Elections Committee, Mr Opare-Ansah also used the opportunity to express appreciation to individuals, party structures and institutions whose contributions helped facilitate the conference and elections.
He thanked the leadership and membership of the NPP for the confidence placed in the NOEC and for their cooperation throughout the electoral process.
His appreciation extended to the party’s Presidential Candidate and former Presidents of the Republic, the former Vice Running Mate, members of the National Council and National Executive Committee, the National Council of Patrons, Members of Parliament, former national officers, regional and constituency executives, external branches, TESCON and other party organs and structures.
He particularly commended the Electoral Commission of Ghana for what he described as its professionalism and cooperation during the elections.
The Ghana Police Service and other security and emergency services also received special recognition for their preparations and presence, which he said contributed to an orderly and peaceful conference.
Mr Opare-Ansah further acknowledged the management and staff of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, accommodation and transportation partners, caterers, telecommunications providers, medical teams, contractors, service providers and volunteers who supported the event.
He said many of those involved worked behind the scenes, often under considerable pressure and late into the night, to ensure that the numerous logistical requirements of the conference were addressed.
The former NOEC Chairman reserved particular praise for members of the committee and its various sub-committees, the Local Organising Committee, the Regional Party, the NPP Secretariat and support teams.
“Over the past several weeks, you worked under considerable pressure, often late into the night and away from public view, to deal with the many details necessary to deliver this Conference,” he said.
“Whatever success has been achieved belongs to the entire team.”
He also thanked the media for its extensive coverage of the electoral process and expressed appreciation to delegates who travelled from across Ghana and abroad to participate in the conference.
According to him, the delegates’ patience, discipline and participation were indispensable to the successful completion of the exercise.
Mr Opare-Ansah acknowledged that an undertaking of the scale of the NPP’s national conference could not be completed without challenges.
He said there would be lessons to learn and areas where improvements could be made, adding that the NOEC would take those lessons seriously as it completes its work and prepares its report for the appropriate organs of the party.
He nonetheless attributed the successful conclusion of the process to the collective efforts of the various stakeholders and gave thanks to Almighty God for His protection throughout the exercise.
