Evangelist Papa Shee, a close associate and former protégé of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has announced plans for a three-day spiritual crusade in honour of the late singer’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa.
The announcement comes weeks after he unveiled preparations for a second funeral ceremony to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s life and legacy.
At a press briefing on 3 February 2026, Papa Shee confirmed that the second funeral will proceed as previously scheduled, expected to take place on either 28 or 29 March 2026.
He also revealed that the three-day Christian gathering, scheduled for 19, 20, and 21 March at Circle, will focus on spiritual intervention for Akosua Serwaa, who, according to him, faces significant spiritual challenges.
This crusade will be very massive, he said.
“Those in bondage will be set free, signs and wonders will occur, and the mighty hand of God will prevail,” Papa Shee declared, urging members of what he referred to as Team Legal Wives to attend and support the initiative.
The announcement has reignited public debate months after Daddy Lumba’s passing, which marked the end of an era in Ghanaian highlife music.
Papa Shee, who previously pursued a music career, has been at the centre of controversy since revealing the intentions to hold an additional ceremony to properly honour the late musician.
In an interview with Smart Ghana TV on 2 February 2026, Papa Shee explained that members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family were dissatisfied with earlier funeral arrangements.
“The family agreed to organise another event to honour the musician’s legacy in a manner they consider more appropriate,” he said.
The proposed event, officially titled The Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba, is expected later this year.
Papa Shee, who now serves as spokesperson for Akosua Serwaa, said the decision followed extensive family consultations and is aimed at reflecting the immense contribution of Daddy Lumba to Ghanaian music and culture.
