Parliament of Ghana is set to resume sitting on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, marking the beginning of the Second Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

This was confirmed in an official notice issued by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, dated May 12, 2025.

The resumption, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Parliament House in Accra, follows weeks of recess during which key national debates—ranging from judicial independence, concerns to economic recovery efforts—have continued to dominate public discourse.

The recall is in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, which empowers the Speaker to summon members at the start of each legislative meeting.

Legislative Priorities on the Horizon

As Parliament reconvenes, several critical issues await the attention of lawmakers. Chief among them is the anticipated debate surrounding the recent suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo by President John Dramani Mahama—a move that has sparked legal and political controversy over the separation of powers and constitutional governance.

Additionally, the House is expected to address matters relating to economic performance, the implementation of the 2025 national budget, and outstanding loan agreements and policy proposals left unresolved prior to the recess.
