Sammi Awuku Fires Up NPP Machinery For 2028 Comeback

By Daniel Bampoe

As political parties begin early mobilisation efforts toward the 2028 general elections, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Samuel Kwabena Awuku, has intensified calls for unity and renewed commitment within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), using the Easter period to reconnect with his grassroots base.

In a message to party faithful following a series of engagements across his constituency, Sammi Awuku underscored the critical role played by polling station executives and constituency teams in sustaining the party’s presence at the local level.

He acknowledged their loyalty and sacrifices, noting that their continued dedication remains central to the NPP’s chances of reclaiming power in 2028.

The Easter interactions, held across Akuapem North, formed part of a broader strategy by the NPP to rebuild and energise its grassroots structures after its defeat in the 2024 general elections, which saw the National Democratic Congress return to power with a parliamentary majority.

Since then, party leaders have increasingly emphasised internal cohesion and mobilisation as key pillars for a political comeback.

Reflecting on the significance of the Easter season, Sammi Awuku drew parallels between the Christian message of hope, renewal, and victory and the party’s current political journey. He urged members to remain steadfast, united, and guided by the core values of the NPP as they work toward a common objective.

“We spent the Easter season in Akuapem North with our dedicated constituency team and committed polling station executives. Your support, loyalty, and sacrifices are the reason I hold this position today,” he stated, expressing gratitude to the party’s grassroots machinery.

He further charged members to translate the symbolism of Easter into political action, stressing the need for discipline, unity, and sustained engagement with voters.

According to him, the road to 2028 will require consistent effort at all levels of the party, particularly at the grassroots where electoral victories are ultimately determined.

Sammi Awuku’s remarks align with a growing chorus within the NPP leadership, including figures such as Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who have called for an aggressive and coordinated strategy to secure both the presidency and a parliamentary majority in the next election cycle.

The Akuapem North MP has been vocal in recent months about the need for the party to treat every constituency as competitive, including those traditionally considered strongholds of the opposition.

“As we reflect on the true meaning of Easter—hope, renewal, and victory—I urge us all to stay united and keep pushing forward with determination and purpose. The journey continues, and together, we will work tirelessly toward victory in 2028,” he added.

However, with the political landscape gradually taking shape, Sammi Awuku’s engagement signals an early push by the NPP to consolidate its base, rebuild confidence among supporters, and lay the groundwork for what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2028 general election.
