Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has undertaken a spiritual cleansing following his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The popular musician visited Teshie, a coastal town in Accra, where he participated in a traditional spiritual bath at one of the local beaches.
The ritual was performed under the supervision of Original Nii Martey Laryea I, the Teshie Gbuglah Mantse, who is popularly known as Original 1 Don.

Shatta Wale, accompanied by members of his entourage and select bloggers, arrived at the Mantse’s palace to personally thank the chief for his support during the legal ordeal that followed the EOCO investigation.
The artist was greeted by fans chanting his name as he approached the beach, where the spiritual cleansing took place.
This move is seen by supporters as Shatta Wale’s way of reaffirming his faith and seeking protection amid public scrutiny following his legal challenges.
Shatta Wale has been no stranger to controversy, with past interactions with law enforcement and media often placing him at the center of public debates.
The EOCO detention, which drew widespread attention on social media, appears to have prompted the musician to seek both spiritual and public reconciliation, highlighting a growing trend among celebrities to combine traditional practices with modern public life.
The spiritual bath, widely documented on social media, comes at a time when Shatta Wale continues to maintain a strong connection with his fanbase, popularly referred to as the “Shatta Movement,” who have consistently shown unwavering support through various controversies.
On his way going, he sprayed some bundle of cash on his fans, as they madly rushed to pick from the grounds.
Last week Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, was arrested and detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over suspicions that his luxury Lamborghini was acquired through fraudulent means.
What followed was not just his detention but a nationwide conversation about whether his ordeal was a case of legitimate law enforcement, political witch-hunting, or simply karma catching up with one of the country’s most controversial celebrities.
The Arrest
Shatta Wale presented himself at EOCO’s headquarters on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation into the source of funding for his luxury Lamborghini Urus.
Authorities reportedly suspected that the car, valued at several hundred thousand dollars, could be linked to proceeds of crime. Shatta Wale reportedly bought the car, according to him from the streets at $150,000 with no receipt.
Initially, EOCO slapped the artiste with a hefty bail condition of GHC10 million with two sureties, which his legal team struggled to meet.
Less than 24 hours later, however, the bail was revised to GHC5 million with two sureties, a condition Wale satisfied before being released on Thursday, August 21.
Following his release, the musician went live on TikTok, thanking his loyal fan base, his manager Sammy Flex, industry veterans like Nii Original, and even EOCO staff for what he described as “professional” handling of the case. He also singled out EOCO boss Raymond Archer for “taking him through the rightful processes.”
