Yvonne Nelson has reportedly pledged to shoulder the entire funeral cost of her late colleague and friend, Beverly Afaglo, while also committing to support the welfare and health of the actress’s two children.
The emotional pledge was made when Yvonne Nelson visited Beverly Afaglo’s family residence to sign the book of condolences following the actress’s sudden passing.
The actress broke down in tears as she reflected on her long-standing relationship with Beverly and the difficult moments they shared over the years.
According to Yvonne Nelson, the public display of grief surrounding Beverly Afaglo’s death has exposed what she believes to be the difference between genuine friendship and performative sympathy.
Speaking through tears, she announced that she would personally finance all funeral arrangements for the late actress, insisting that true love and respect are demonstrated through meaningful actions rather than public displays of emotion.
“I will cover all of Beverly Afaglo’s funeral expenses,” she reportedly stated.
The actress explained that her decision was influenced by memories of the challenges Beverly faced during her lifetime, particularly after a devastating fire outbreak in 2021 destroyed much of her family’s property and personal belongings.
The incident left Beverly and her family struggling to rebuild their lives. At the time, Yvonne Nelson stepped in to organize a fundraising campaign aimed at helping the actress recover from the disaster and restart her life.
However, she recalled that instead of receiving widespread support, Beverly became the target of criticism and ridicule from some members of the public and social media users.
According to Yvonne Nelson, the negative reactions and online attacks were so intense that Beverly was forced to withdraw from social media platforms for a period to protect her mental and emotional well-being.
Reflecting on those painful experiences, Yvonne expressed disappointment that some of the same individuals who ignored Beverly’s struggles while she was alive have now emerged publicly to mourn her death.
She suggested that many of the displays of grief being witnessed today are not necessarily rooted in genuine affection but are instead driven by a desire for attention and social media relevance.
“When Beverly needed help, many people turned their backs on her. Some mocked her situation and attacked her family. Today, those same people are showing up and pretending to be devastated. Real love is not about performance; it is about action,” she reportedly stated.
Beyond the funeral arrangements, Yvonne Nelson also announced plans to support Beverly’s two children by ensuring they receive specialized medical attention abroad.
According to her, she intends to fly the children to the United States for comprehensive medical examinations at some of the country’s leading specialist healthcare facilities.
The move, she explained, is aimed at identifying and preventing any potential hereditary health conditions that may have affected their late mother.
“I will take Beverly’s two children to the most specialized medical institutions in the United States for comprehensive medical screening and I will personally cover all the expenses,” she said.
The pledge has generated widespread admiration on social media, with many Ghanaians praising Yvonne Nelson for standing by her late friend even after death.
Beverly Afaglo’s passing has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with actors, musicians, media personalities and fans continuing to pay tribute to the actress, who was widely admired for her contributions to film and television.
