In the past few weeks pockets of Insecurity have been reported.
These are worrying incidents besides the cost element involved in addressing them.
It is interesting to note that one of them is occurring in a region the president said is bereft of such occurrences.
We are concerned one of the instances is taking place not too far away from our border with a restive part of West Africa.
A few days ago Islamist fighters clashed with militiamen from Burkina Faso not far away from us.
Burkina Faso and Togo are not spared by terrorists.
Such incidents of Insecurity being noticed in the country should be addressed swiftly.
They can be exploited by the armed gangs and this will not inure to our interest.
Bawku is already a major security challenge for us as a country mapping so much financial resources from the state kitty.
Such conflict zones offer gun runners an easy way of selling these gadgets of death.
It will surprise many how weapons from Libya and Mali can find their way to Bawku and Sawla.
Besides the direct deployment of troops to enforce the law let us explore alternative means of addressing some of these conflicts.
Traditional authorities should be engaged for appropriate directions in such matters.
It worked in Dagbon and can therefore be replicated elsewhere.
We ask that politicians steer away from these Flashpoints as their utterances can aggravate already inflamed situations.
We are yet to hear government reaction to these pockets of insecurity which are taking a toll on our national security.
Let us avoid taking the peace we are enjoying for granted. Concerted efforts should be made to ensure that elements which trigger trouble are tackled head on.
Hate speech and actions which have the potential to derail peace should not be given traction.
Those whose provide fodder for trouble should be identified and tackled.
It is amazing how most of these conflicts are steeped in distorted history.
The traditional authorities and parents should ensure that the oral tradition they impart to their offspring are facts not fiction or even mythology.
For now though innocent lives who have suffered from the senseless mayhem should be protected robustly.
