The Kasoa Police are investigating a disturbing case of domestic violence after a 39-year-old gold dealer, Osman Mumuni, allegedly attacked his fiancée with a hammer, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.

The victim, 28-year-old Barikisu Abdullah, is currently battling the consequences of a fractured skull and broken teeth following the assault, which occurred weeks after the Eid-Fitr celebration.

According to Barikisu’s account to Crime Check TV, she had met Osman about a year ago.

Despite living separately—Osman in Bolgatanga and Barikisu in Kasoa—the couple had maintained a relationship, with Osman reportedly renting a GH¢6,000 apartment for her in Kasoa.

He also provided her with regular financial support, including GH¢500 weekly allowance, daily upkeep money of almost GH¢100, a business capital package, and a new mobile phone.

However, the relationship took a violent turn when Osman allegedly broke into her rented room in Kasoa late one night and repeatedly struck her with a hammer while she slept.

“I became unconscious and only woke up in a hospital bed. When I returned home, I saw his slippers, blood stains, and the hammer he used to attack me,” Barikisu recounted.

She said Osman later called her parents to apologize, admitting that he was behind the assault.

Photographs shared confirm the severity of her injuries, showing a fractured skull and missing teeth.

When confronted with the allegations, Osman admitted to assaulting Barikisu but denied using a hammer.

He insisted that he only used his hands during a heated confrontation and rejected claims that he had sneaked into her room.

Osman further accused Barikisu of betrayal, claiming she was unfaithful despite his financial and emotional investment in her.

“I gave her everything—money, a place to live, business capital. Yet, anytime I called her, she was always on the phone late at night. She disrespected me, insulted me, and refused to be intimate with me,” Osman alleged.

He argued that her refusal to have sexual relations fueled his suspicion of infidelity.

Barikisu, however, has strongly denied the cheating allegations.

She explained that her late-night calls were strictly business-related since she operates as a trader.

On the issue of intimacy, she insisted that she withheld sexual relations because Osman had not formally married her. “He always postponed meeting my family, even though he promised to do so. Instead, he ridiculed us,” she said.

The victim has since lodged an official complaint at the Kasoa Police Station.

Meanwhile, Osman, who appeared remorseful, has promised to cover her medical bills and meet with her family to resolve the matter.
