Guru To Relaunch Music Career After Completing University Exams

Ghanaian rapper Guru, born Nana Yaw Adjei Yeboah Maradona, is poised to make a full comeback to the music scene after completing his final exams at the University of Ghana.

Guru, known for his hit song “Lapaz Toyota,” revealed in an interview with Myjoyonline’s Albert Kuzor that balancing academics, family life, and music had been challenging, but valuable.

Overcoming Challenges

Guru’s determination to pursue both education and music is evident in his recent achievements.

In 2021, he gained admission to the University of Ghana to study Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

Despite the demands of university life,
Guru also won the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential election last year, showcasing his leadership skills.

On April 25, 2025, Guru was sworn in as a member of the University of Ghana Governing Council, further solidifying his commitment to student welfare and academic policies.

New Music On the Horizon

With his exams now behind him, Guru is eager to relaunch his music career.

“I just wrote my final exams, I am done and I am still going back to the show business,” he stated. Fans can expect fresh energy in Ghana’s music industry as Guru reconnects with his audience and builds on his legacy.

He recently released a new track titled “Ashawo,” which will be coming out shortly, followed by more content.

Guru’s Musical Journey

Guru’s music career spans over a decade, with breakthrough hits like “Lapaz Toyota” and “Karaoke.”

His unique style combines English and Ghanaian indigenous languages, earning him recognition in the Ghanaian music industry.

Guru has collaborated with notable artists like Sarkodie, Obrafour, and R2Bees, and has won several awards, including the WAPPI Talent Discovery Program in 2008.
