Kumasi Asante Kotoko Fails To Capitalize In Goalless Draw Against Heart Of Lions

BY Issah Olegor

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s momentum from their recent CAF Confederation Cup win over Kwara United was halted in a 0-0 draw against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Despite dominating possession, Kotoko struggled to penetrate the Lions’ defence, with Emmanuel Antwi and Hubert Gyau having half-chances and Joseph Amoah’s effort hitting the crossbar.

Kotoko’s Inability

The Porcupine Warriors were expected to build on their continental success, but they failed to create clear scoring opportunities.

Their inability to capitalize on their chances was evident, with Amoah setting up Antwi in the 54th minute, but his shot lacked the required power.

Kotoko’s substitutions, including Seth for Donzo and Walid and Asiedu for Antwi and Joseph, failed to yield the desired impact.

Heart of Lions’ Solid Defence

Heart of Lions’ defence was solid, with the team using their pace on the flanks to test Kotoko’s backline.

Although they struggled to create clear scoring opportunities, they had a brief moment of promise in the 66th minute with a free kick that went narrowly off target.
