Don’t Compare Me To Stonebwoy- Shatta Wale Rejects Fan-Fuelled Rivalry Narratives

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has publicly distanced himself from the long-running culture of comparisons and rivalry narratives involving fellow artist Stonebwoy, urging fans to bring an end to divisive debates that continue to dominate social media spaces.

The call was made during a TikTok live session on February 7, 2026, where the self-acclaimed “Dancehall King” addressed the persistent arguments between supporters of the Shatta Movement and Bhim Nation.

In the widely shared broadcast, Shatta Wale made it clear that the rivalry narrative being sustained by fans does not reflect his personal position or values.

“Stop arguing about Bhim Nation and us. We don’t want that,” he told viewers, stressing that he does not support the continuous comparisons with Stonebwoy or the culture of online confrontations that follow it.

Shatta Wale further questioned the foundation of such debates, pointing to his long-standing presence in the Ghanaian music industry.

He reminded fans that his career predates Stonebwoy’s mainstream emergence, suggesting that constant comparisons often ignore the different career timelines and artistic journeys of both musicians.

The renewed public appeal comes against the backdrop of a history that has seen Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy positioned as rivals within the dancehall space for over a decade.

Their perceived rivalry peaked in 2019 when tensions between the two camps escalated into a chaotic confrontation at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), an incident that led to both artists facing sanctions and temporary suspensions from the awards scheme.

Following that episode, both musicians publicly reconciled later in 2019, pledging peace and unity within the industry.

Although relations between the two have remained largely calm since then, fan-driven comparisons, social media arguments, and media framing have continued to revive the rivalry narrative whenever either artiste releases new music or trends online.

Shatta Wale’s latest comments come at a time when fresh music releases from both artistes have once again sparked debates across digital platforms, reigniting old conversations among their respective fan bases.

However, his message signals a deliberate attempt to shift the narrative from competition to coexistence, maturity, and mutual respect.
