Residents of Plau in Somanya, Eastern Region, were left shocked following the discovery of the body of 34-year-old Ama Kwaku Oyo under suspicious circumstances on February 3, 2026.

According to sources, the woman was initially found unresponsive in her boyfriend’s room earlier in the day. Her body was later transported and left at her family home, prompting immediate concern from neighbors.

A source at the Somanya District Police Command told the Ghana News Agency that police officers received a distress call around 10:00 p.m. from a neighbor reporting that a dead body had been brought to the family house.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene, confirmed that the woman was unresponsive, and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ama Kwaku Oyo had visited her boyfriend, identified as Tetteh Bi, earlier in the day.

Reports indicate that the pair prepared fufu together, although she reportedly did not eat. Witnesses say she later went into a room, and when her boyfriend followed, he found her lying motionless. Police sources also noted that she was known to consume alcohol heavily.

The investigation further revealed that the boyfriend allegedly placed her body in a tricycle, locally called a “pragya,” and transported it to her family home before fleeing the area.

His whereabouts remain unknown, and police are actively seeking him to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. The body has been deposited at the Yilo Krobo District Hospital and is scheduled to be transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and have urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the inquiry.
