Ghana’s U15 girls’ national team, the Black Damsels, are preparing for another defining continental test as they set their sights on defending their title at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship finals in Maputo, Mozambique.

The tournament, organized by the Confederation of African Football, will run from April 2 to April 10, 2026, bringing together Africa’s most promising school-level talents in a competition that has rapidly become a cornerstone of youth football development on the continent.

Since its launch, the CAF African Schools Football Championship has grown into one of Africa’s most important grassroots football platforms, designed to identify young talents, promote structured development pathways, and integrate football with education systems across member countries.

The competition is widely regarded as a foundation pipeline for future national team players and professional careers.

Champions Carrying A Nation’s Hopes

The Black Damsels enter the competition as defending champions, carrying both confidence and responsibility.

Their triumph in the previous edition was not only a sporting success but a symbolic milestone for Ghanaian women’s football, underlining the country’s growing influence in youth development and female participation in the sport.

That historic victory placed Ghana firmly among Africa’s emerging leaders in girls’ grassroots football, reinforcing long-term investments in school sports development and youth academies. It also elevated the Black Damsels as role models for young girls across the country, inspiring a new generation to see football as both an opportunity and a pathway.

The team’s preparation has been shaped through a coordinated development framework involving the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Education Service, reflecting a broader national strategy that integrates education with elite sports development.
