The ongoing marital crisis involving the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has taken another dramatic turn after the controversial preacher disclosed that one of his sons was allegedly involved in a road accident while driving his luxury Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon without permission.
The latest revelation comes as Bishop Obinim continues to publicly discuss the challenges confronting his family following his highly publicised separation from his wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim.
Over the past few weeks, the couple’s private marital issues have dominated public discourse, with both parties making separate public statements that have intensified speculation about the future of their marriage.
Addressing members of his congregation during a church service, Bishop Obinim recounted how he received a voice note from his eldest son, Gifted Obinim, informing him about the alleged incident involving his younger brother, Promise.
According to the preacher, Gifted reported that Promise had taken the G-Wagon he had left at the family residence for their use, driven out late at night without his knowledge, and subsequently crashed the vehicle.
Bishop Obinim explained that his son pleaded with him to return home and discipline Promise, claiming that the young man had become increasingly difficult to control.
According to the preacher, Gifted told him that even their mother, Florence Obinim, was unable to get Promise to obey instructions.
The preacher used the incident to illustrate what he described as the growing challenges within his household since he moved out of the matrimonial home.
Despite his son’s appeal, Bishop Obinim indicated that he remains unwilling to return to the family residence.
During the sermon, he sought the opinion of members of his congregation on whether he should go back home.
While some church members encouraged reconciliation, one congregant reportedly cautioned him against returning, expressing fears for his safety.
Responding to the concern, Bishop Obinim said he was hesitant to return because he believed his life could be at risk if he moved back into the house.
Although he did not provide evidence to support his fears, he suggested that remaining away from the family home was the safest decision for him under the current circumstances.
Neither Bishop Obinim nor his son disclosed the extent of the damage to the vehicle or whether Promise sustained any injuries in the alleged accident.
However, the preacher’s narration suggested that his son escaped the incident without serious harm.
The latest development adds another layer to the widely publicised marital difficulties between Bishop Obinim and Florence Obinim, which have unfolded publicly over the past several weeks.
The controversy began after the outspoken pastor claimed that his wife had changed following her association with Team Legal Wives, a social media movement that emerged in support of Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh. Bishop Obinim alleged that the group’s influence had negatively affected their marriage.
Although he initially maintained that divorce was not an option, the situation escalated after he announced that he had moved out of the matrimonial home and purchased a new residence in the upscale Trasacco enclave, where he now lives.
Florence Obinim later responded publicly, stating that if her husband wished to end the marriage through divorce, she would not stand in his way.
