Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has held consultations with the leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) as part of his ongoing engagements with key stakeholders on issues affecting Ghanaian workers and the wider economy.
The meeting, held at the TUC Hall, focused on the rising cost of living, the need for a living wage, youth employment, pension improvements and disability inclusion.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the discussions also explored the possibility of a stronger social contract between government and organised labour to help Ghana withstand external economic shocks and build greater economic resilience.
He said both sides agreed to follow up on specific issues at subsequent meetings, suggesting that the engagement would continue beyond the initial discussions.
Dr. Bawumia expressed appreciation to the TUC leadership and its constituent groups for their openness and contributions, describing the consultations as an opportunity to draw on organised labour’s experience in shaping proposals for Ghana’s future.
