A Kumasi High Court has remanded Kumawood actress and film producer Patricia Osei Boateng into custody for two weeks as police continue investigations into her alleged connection to a robbery incident that resulted in the fatal shooting of Andrews Kwame Amankwah.
The court’s decision forms part of ongoing efforts by investigators to unravel the circumstances surrounding the robbery and killing of Amankwah, whose death has attracted significant national attention due to his familial connection to Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board.
According to prosecutors, Patricia Osei Boateng is married to Eric Duku, who has been described by investigators as the leader of an armed robbery syndicate.
Authorities allege that the actress may have had links to the group’s operations and is accused of assisting some suspects connected to the robbery to evade arrest.
The court ordered that she remain in custody while police conduct further enquiries into her alleged involvement.
The robbery incident that triggered the investigations occurred at Ohwim Tigo Junction in Kumasi, where Andrews Amankwah was reportedly shot and killed during an attack. Following the incident, the Ghana Police Service launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators.
Providing an update on the case earlier, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, confirmed that four suspects had initially been arrested in connection with the robbery and killing.
He explained that immediately after the crime was reported, a special investigative task force was constituted to track down those responsible.
The task force comprised the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, officers from the Regional Intelligence Directorate, the Anti-Robbery Unit, and the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.
Police indicated that the first coordinated operation under the task force was conducted on February 18, 2026, leading to the arrest of a suspect identified as Akwesi Manu. Investigators said he was allegedly found in possession of a Samsung mobile phone belonging to the deceased, a development that provided crucial leads for the ongoing investigations.
Authorities say the arrest of the initial suspects generated additional intelligence that eventually brought Patricia Osei Boateng under scrutiny as investigators sought to establish whether she had any role in the activities of the alleged criminal network.
