Renowned Ghanaian actor and television host Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, has broken his silence following a near-fatal accident that occurred on Friday, May 23, 2025, on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The veteran entertainer has credited divine intervention for his survival, describing the crash as one of the most terrifying experiences of his life.

The incident took place near Konongo in the Ashanti Region while Akrobeto was en route to Kumasi.

In a video shared by UTV on social media, the 61-year-old star revealed that a heavy-duty truck rammed into his Toyota SUV and dragged it approximately 30 meters before both vehicles came to a halt.

“The articulated truck rammed into mine and dragged me for about 30 meters before it came to a stop,” Akrobeto recounted. “The entire area was flooded with people within five minutes. It was truly scary.”

Despite the violent nature of the collision, Akrobeto emerged from the wreckage unscathed, along with a passenger who was traveling with him at the time.

Both were taken to the Kumasi Hospital for medical evaluation, where doctors confirmed they had suffered no injuries.

According to Akrobeto, the examining doctor was astonished by the lack of physical harm, reportedly telling him, “Your God is a big God.”

“I thank God for my life and thank all Ghanaians for their love and support after the accident. It’s by grace that I’m alive,” Akrobeto added, visibly emotional in the video message.

Akrobeto, known for his comedic roles and for hosting the popular “Real News” segment on UTV, has been a beloved figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry for decades. His accident has since sparked an outpouring of concern and well-wishes from fans, celebrities, and fellow media personalities across the country.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm whether investigations are underway to determine the cause of the collision.

This is not the first time the Accra-Kumasi Highway has witnessed such a terrifying accident.

The stretch has long been flagged as one of the most dangerous roads, often cited for reckless driving, poor lighting, and frequent crashes involving heavy-duty vehicles.

Akrobeto’s survival is being hailed by many as miraculous, and his story has reignited public calls for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations, especially regarding long-haul truck drivers.

For now, the veteran comedian remains grateful—and determined to continue doing what he loves. “I’m alive, and that is enough reason to smile,” he said.
