After over a decade of serving as one of Ghana’s most beloved radio voices, award-winning broadcaster Andy Dosty has officially stepped down from hosting Hitz FM’s flagship morning show, Daybreak Hitz.
The announcement, made live on-air in an emotional broadcast, marks a significant shift in the station’s morning programming — but not the end of Andy Dosty’s radio journey.
“It was affecting me in other ways negatively… it’s bittersweet,” he confessed tearfully, explaining that the early-morning responsibilities had begun to take a toll on his physical and emotional well-being.
The seasoned radio personality added that recent personal challenges — including the death of his sister and a marital separation — had made it increasingly difficult to manage the intense schedule required for morning radio.
For the past 10years, Andy Dosty has been a staple in the entertainment broadcasting scene, waking listeners up every weekday morning with a mix of music, interviews, and commentary that became a defining part of Hitz FM’s identity.
His departure from the morning slot comes as a surprise to many, though he emphasized that the move was necessary to protect his health and regain balance in his life.
Despite stepping back from the high-paced morning segment, Andy is not retiring. Instead, he will be shifting gears to helm a new afternoon program titled The Afternoon Ride, scheduled to launch on July 7.
The show is expected to offer a more relaxed, lifestyle-focused format, designed to connect with audiences in the latter part of the day — and crucially, to suit his new personal rhythm.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Andy assured his fans. “This is a new chapter.”
Meanwhile, Hitz FM is already implementing a refreshed lineup to fill the vacuum on Daybreak Hitz.
Kwame Dadzie has been tapped to co-host the show alongside Doreen Avio, bringing a dynamic duo to the fore.
DJ Black is set to take over the Musik Box segment, maintaining the station’s strong musical foundation. Additionally, fan-favorite shows like Cruise Control and Hitz Gallery will continue with renewed energy.
