Annoh-Dompreh Shakes Nsawam Market

The bustling Nsawam Market came to a standstill last Thursday as the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, paid a surprise visit to express his appreciation to market women for their support in the 2024 general elections.

Accompanied by constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Annoh-Dompreh was met with overwhelming joy and excitement from the traders, who welcomed him with fanfare.

In a dramatic show of affection and respect, some market women laid their cloths on the ground for him to walk on — a traditional gesture reserved for highly revered individuals.

The MP’s visit caused heavy human and vehicular traffic as the entire market paused to greet him.

He moved through every corner of the market, waving and shaking hands with the traders, many of whom chanted his name and showered him with praises.

His interaction with the traders was warm and personal, with many hugging him and offering tokens of appreciation.

Market women, mostly NPP sympathizers, used the opportunity to voice their concerns over the party’s loss in the 2024 elections.

Some expressed disappointment and urged the NPP leadership to work harder towards reclaiming power in 2028, citing economic hardship under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

Over the years, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has been instrumental in improving the state of the Nsawam market.

He spearheaded the renovation of several sections of the market, particularly the pavement areas prone to flooding and muddy conditions during the rainy season.

He also championed the construction and tarring of access roads around the market, boosting commerce and easing movement.

Despite securing victory in the 2024 elections, Annoh-Dompreh’s win was contested by the NDC, who challenged the results at the Koforidua High Court.

The case, however, was recently dismissed, reaffirming his legitimacy as MP.

Speaking during the visit, Frank Annoh-Dompreh acknowledged the post-election challenges but assured the people of his unwavering commitment to serve.

He reiterated his plans to contest again in 2028, promising to help the NPP return to power and address what he described as the economic mismanagement under the current NDC government.

His visit not only reinforced his strong connection with the grassroots but also ignited fresh political conversations in the constituency as the NPP gears up to rebuild ahead of the next general elections.
