Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie has responded to the wave of social-media jokes surrounding a controversial story told by dancehall star Stonebwoy about an alleged reconciliation between the two artistes.
Instead of directly addressing the jollof rice story, Sarkodie appeared to send his response through an unusual and dramatic source—a viral video of preacher Osofo Kyiriabosom issuing an intense warning to people who provoke him.
Sarkodie shared the clip on X, formerly Twitter, without adding a caption. In the video, Osofo Kyiriabosom speaks passionately into the camera, combining Twi and English while making a series of emphatic statements and warnings.
The timing of Sarkodie’s post immediately caught the attention of social-media users because it came amid a fresh wave of jokes about an alleged visit he made to Stonebwoy’s residence.
The latest social-media drama traces back to comments made by Stonebwoy during a public exchange involving Sarkodie.
Stonebwoy reportedly claimed that Sarkodie once visited his home to apologise following a disagreement connected to events surrounding the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
According to Stonebwoy’s account, he prepared jollof rice for Sarkodie during the visit.
What may have been presented as a story about reconciliation quickly took on a life of its own online.
Ghanaians seized on the jollof detail, turning the alleged visit into a subject of memes, jokes and playful commentary. Social-media users began imagining the unlikely scene of one of Ghana’s biggest rappers visiting the home of one of his dancehall counterparts and sitting down to eat jollof.
The development was particularly entertaining to fans because of the long-standing public relationship between Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, whose careers have frequently placed them in the same conversations about Ghana’s biggest music stars.
As the jokes continued circulating, Sarkodie eventually appeared to react—but without directly confirming or denying the details of Stonebwoy’s story.
The rapper posted a video featuring Osofo Kyiriabosom, a Ghanaian preacher known for his outspoken and theatrical public appearances.
In the footage, the preacher delivers an animated warning, gesturing forcefully as he speaks and appearing to address individuals who might provoke or challenge him.
Sarkodie provided no explanation for why he chose the clip and did not attach a written caption to his post.
That silence, however, arguably made the post even more intriguing.
Given that the video appeared during the height of the jollof rice jokes, many followers interpreted the preacher’s fiery message as Sarkodie’s humorous way of responding to the online teasing without getting drawn into a lengthy explanation.
Rather than entering into a direct social-media exchange with Stonebwoy or responding point-by-point to the allegations, Sarkodie appeared to let the dramatic preacher video speak for itself.
