Berekum Chelsea Coach Samuel Boadu Sets Sights On FA Cup Glory

BY Issah Olegor

Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu is determined to make history by winning the MTN FA Cup, a feat that would mark a significant milestone for the club from Bono Region.

Currently ranked 10th in the Ghana Premier League with 38 points, Berekum Chelsea has reached the semifinals of the FA Cup and will face off against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on May 11, 2025, at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium.

Focus Shifts To the FA Cup

After assessing the current league table, Boadu has shifted his focus solely to the FA Cup, acknowledging that winning the league title might be a challenging task.

In an interview with Kankam Boadu on “The BKB Show,” he expressed his determination to bring the FA Cup trophy home.

“I want to bring the FA Cup trophy home for Berekum Chelsea. Kotoko is a strong side, but I won’t allow us to lose to them twice. We’ll win, reach the finals, and lift the trophy,” Boadu stated confidently.

Historic Achievement

Boadu emphasized the significance of returning to CAF inter-club competitions, a feat achieved by Berekum Chelsea in the past after winning the league.

He noted that reaching the semifinals of the FA Cup is a historic achievement in itself, considering the club’s past performances.

“Where we are today is historic because even after winning the league and going to Africa, they (Chelsea) had not reached this level in the FA Cup,” he said.

“But I want to go even further and win the tournament.”

Tough Opponent Ahead

To fulfill his ambition, Boadu will need to guide his team past a determined Kumasi Asante Kotoko, who have revamped their technical team and are also eager to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2017.

The match promises to be an exciting encounter between two teams with a rich football history.
