Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba from the hit youth series YOLO, has addressed widespread reports suggesting that businessman Ibrahim Mahama had agreed to fund his medical treatment, clarifying that the situation may not be as widely portrayed.
The actor, who has been battling a serious demyelinating disease affecting his nervous system, has spent over a year appealing to the public for financial assistance to support his treatment.
The condition, which can lead to muscle weakness, vision impairment, balance issues, and chronic pain, has significantly impacted his daily life and ability to work.
In recent months, Drogba launched a GoFundMe campaign with a target of $88,000 to cover medical expenses.
However, the fundraiser has struggled to gain traction, raising less than $3,000 since its creation in December 2025, highlighting the challenges many public figures face when seeking sustained support during prolonged illness.
Speculation intensified on April 19, 2026, when viral reports claimed that Ibrahim Mahama—known for his philanthropic efforts and as the brother of John Dramani Mahama—had stepped in to support the actor.
The reports suggested the businessman had taken a personal interest in Drogba’s condition and was prepared to fund his treatment.
However, in a brief but telling response shared on social media a day later, Drogba appeared to cast doubt on the claims, stating, “Mr Ibrahim Mahama case: I’ll speak on it soon,” without confirming any assistance.

His measured reaction has since fueled uncertainty, leaving many Ghanaians awaiting clarification on whether any concrete support has been offered.
The situation is further compounded by personal tragedy, as the actor continues to mourn the recent loss of his father—an event he says has deepened his emotional and physical struggles.
In a poignant message, he described the pain of dealing with his illness while coping with grief, underscoring the urgency of his appeal for help.
