Former SWAG President Passes Away

The sports journalism fraternity in Ghana is in mourning following the passing of Ackah Anthony, a revered sports journalist and former president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
Anthony passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Police Hospital in Accra.

Anthony had a distinguished career in sports journalism, serving as the editor of the Graphic Sports newspaper.

His leadership skills and dedication to the profession earned him the respect of his peers, and he was elected as the 6th president of SWAG, a position he held from 2007 to 2015.

Tributes And Condolences

The current SWAG executives received the news of his passing from his wife, Mrs. Ackah.

The sports journalism community is shocked and saddened by his demise, and condolences have been pouring in.

During his tenure as SWAG president, Anthony worked tirelessly to promote sports journalism in Ghana and beyond.

His commitment to excellence and his passion for sports journalism inspired many young journalists.

His passing leaves a void in the sports journalism community, and he will be deeply missed.
