GCB Bank PLC marked the start of the New Year with a solemn National Thanksgiving Service at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The event brought together the bank’s top executives, board members, staff, and invited guests to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and seek divine guidance for the future.
The service featured a sermon by Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service.

Rev. Wengam, who has long been recognized for his advocacy of ethical leadership and integrity in both religious and public service spheres, called on Ghanaians to acknowledge God’s mercy and favor in all achievements.

Drawing from 2 Samuel 9, he emphasized that success and prosperity are gifts from God, achievable through diligence, humility, and a commitment to moral principles.
He also reminded attendees that wealth does not have to be accompanied by corruption, highlighting that ethical practices and hard work remain central to personal and professional growth.
GCB Bank’s Managing Director, Farihan Alhassan, thanked God for the bank’s achievements over the past year and commended staff for their loyalty and unwavering dedication.

He praised employees for contributing to the bank’s continued growth and expressed confidence that GCB Bank would reach even greater heights in the coming years.
The service also showcased musical performances by Tehilla Cedars of Cedar Mountain Chapel, East Legon, and celebrated gospel musician Nacee, creating a spiritual and uplifting atmosphere for all attendees.
The National Thanksgiving Service is part of GCB Bank’s longstanding tradition of recognizing the role of faith, integrity, and community in its operations.
The bank has consistently used such occasions to encourage staff, celebrate milestones, and reaffirm its commitment to ethical banking practices and social responsibility.
