GFA Dismisses Reports of Sports Minister’s Comments Ahead of Black Queens vs Egypt Match

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has refuted widespread media reports alleging that Sports Minister Kofi Adams confronted the Black Queens and dared them to boycott their upcoming 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt.

According to the GFA, such reports are entirely inaccurate and do not reflect the spirit or content of the discussions that took place during the meeting with the players.

The GFA clarified that Minister Adams appealed to the players’ conscience to remain focused and honor the return-leg fixture.

He assured them that the government is taking immediate steps to resolve the financial impasse.

The association emphasized its collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to ensure the Black Queens receive necessary support as they push to secure qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The reverse fixture between Ghana and Egypt in the WAFCON qualifiers is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The match is crucial for Ghana’s qualification hopes, and the GFA has expressed confidence in the team’s abilities.

This development comes as the Black Queens prepare for a crucial match against Egypt, with both teams vying for qualification.
