Team Ghana’s sprinters made the nation proud by bagging $16,000 in prize money after finishing fourth in the Men’s 4×100 Metres Relay final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The quartet, comprising Benjamin Azamati, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Joseph Paul Amoah, clocked a time of 37.93 seconds, narrowly missing out on a podium spot to the Netherlands, who finished third with a time of 37.81 seconds.
The United States team, led by Noah Lyles, Courtney Lindsey, Kenny Bednarek, and Christian Coleman, took home the gold medal with a world-leading time of 37.29 seconds, earning a cash prize of $80,000.
Canada’s team, featuring veteran sprinter Andre De Grasse, secured the silver medal and a $40,000 cash prize.
Despite failing to medal, Ghana’s relay team set a new national record with a time of 37.79 seconds in the semifinals, paving the way for their impressive fourth-place finish in the final.
The team’s performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they will split the $16,000 prize money among themselves.

The prize money for the World Athletics Championships is substantial, with gold medalists earning $70,000 for individual events and $80,000 for relay events.
Silver medalists take home $35,000 and $40,000, respectively, while bronze medalists earn $22,000 and $20,000.
