Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have received good news after deputy captain Lord Amoah successfully underwent surgery following a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The enterprising right-back sustained the injury in March during a Ghana Premier League Matchday 23 clash against Young Apostles FC, where he was forced off the pitch.

Despite his early exit, Kotoko managed to secure an impressive 2–0 away victory in that encounter, but the long-term impact of the injury has now become evident.
In an official statement, the club confirmed that the surgical procedure was successful and that Amoah has begun an intensive rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the team’s medical staff. The focus will now shift to his recovery, with careful monitoring to ensure a full return to fitness.
Key Player Sidelined At Crucial Stage
Lord Amoah’s absence comes as a major blow for Kotoko, particularly given his outstanding contributions this season. Since joining from Berekum Chelsea FC in the summer of 2024, the defender has evolved into one of the team’s most consistent and influential performers.
In 23 appearances across all competitions, Amoah remarkably registered nine goals, an impressive tally for a defender and a testament to his attacking threat and versatility. His performances had reportedly placed him on the radar for a potential Black Stars call-up, highlighting his rapid rise in Ghanaian football.
Rise Cut Short By Injury
Lord Amoah’s journey at Kotoko had been one of steady growth and increasing responsibility. His elevation to deputy captain reflected both his leadership qualities and his importance within the squad. Known for his energy, overlapping runs, and goal-scoring ability, he quickly became a fan favorite at the Baba Yara Stadium.
However, ACL injuries remain among the most challenging setbacks in football, often requiring months of recovery and rehabilitation.
