A devastating fire incident occurred on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Maaha Beach Resort and Vision Beach Resort in the Ellembelle District of Ghana’s Western Region.

Despite the severity of the blaze, Maaha Beach Resort management announced that all guests and personnel were safely evacuated, and operations remain unaffected.

The Fire Incident

The fire started at approximately 8:00 PM at Vision Beach Resort and rapidly spread to Maaha Beach Resort due to high directional coastal winds.

A total of 33 rooms were destroyed, with 18 rooms affected at Maaha Beach Resort and 15 rooms at Vision Beach Resort. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

The Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the emergency, arriving at the scene within five minutes.

According to Divisional Officer II Mark Hamilton, Ellembelle District Fire Commander, the fire service received a distress call at 7:59 PM and dispatched a tender to the scene.

The firefighters acted quickly to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the resorts, particularly given the proximity to sensitive gas infrastructure.

Despite the incident, Maaha Beach Resort remains open for business with about 180 rooms available.

The resort is continuing its ongoing “reduced rate promo” which expires at the end of June 2025.

Management has assured guests of their commitment to safety and well-being, stating, “The safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and community remain our utmost priority.”

Rebuilding and Investigation

In a notice, the management of Maaha Beach Resort has expressed gratitude to emergency responders and community members for their assistance in containing investigation.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, with preliminary findings suggesting it may have originated from the workers’ area at Vision Beach Resort.
