Mahama Investigates Akufo-Addo

Reports indicate that President Mahama has instructed the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to conduct investigations into the activities former President Nana Akufo-Addo during his tenure, including his official travels.

This directive, which comes amid growing public discourse on governance transparency, has been met with mixed reactions from various quarters.

According to sources, the investigation is aimed at ensuring accountability in the management of state resources. Government officials insist that the probe is part of broader efforts to promote transparency and good governance.

“The investigation is not targeted at the former president, but rather at ensuring that state resources were utilized efficiently,” a government official said.

However, a source close to the former president has described the directive as “a new low,” suggesting that it may be politically motivated.

“This is a clear case of political witch-hunting,” the source said.

“The former president’s official travels were always conducted in accordance with established protocols and procedures.”

The investigation has raised questions about the scope of the probe and whether it will cover the full range of Akufo-Addo’s travels throughout his presidency or focus on specific instances.

The NIB has yet to comment publicly on the directive, fueling speculation about the nature and objectives of the investigation.

This development comes against the backdrop of growing public demands for greater transparency and accountability in governance.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been critical of the Mahama administration’s handling of state resources, and this investigation may be seen as an attempt to deflect attention from the government’s own record.
