Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School is set to mark its 66th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day with a four-day celebration designed to honour the institution’s achievements while preparing students for the demands of a rapidly changing world.
The anniversary, scheduled for Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27, 2026, will be hosted by the 2001-year group of the Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA).
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the main Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony on Saturday, September 26.
The celebration is being held under the theme, “Unlearn to Relearn: The Art of Adaptability in a Rapidly Changing World.”
The theme highlights the growing need for young people to develop not only academic knowledge but also the flexibility, confidence and resilience required to respond to rapid changes in technology, education and the world of work.
According to the organisers, the theme reflects the belief that knowledge alone is no longer enough in an increasingly dynamic world. Students must be prepared to question outdated assumptions, embrace new perspectives and continuously acquire new skills to remain relevant.
The organisers believe that the ability to unlearn and relearn can help students develop creativity, confidence and resilience while preparing them to take advantage of emerging opportunities and confront new challenges.
The four-day programme will feature a welcome street carnival, Health Walk, medical outreach programme dubbed “Share2Care,” career guidance and mentorship, the main Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony, a 1990s-themed jam, as well as a Founders’ Day and Thanksgiving Service.
A major component of the anniversary will be the Share2Care initiative, through which medical supplies will be presented to the school’s infirmary and the Saltpond Government Hospital.
Through the engagement, students are expected to gain practical insights into career development, professional life and the changing demands of the world of work.
The main Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony will provide an opportunity to recognise students who have distinguished themselves academically and in other areas of school life.
Outstanding members of staff will also be honoured for their contributions to the development and progress of the school.
President of MOGA, Henrietta Opokua Amissah, said the anniversary represented more than the celebration of another milestone in the history of the school.
She said it was also an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the future of Mfantsiman Girls SHS and the kind of preparation students require to succeed beyond the classroom.
“This year’s theme is particularly relevant because the world our girls are preparing to enter is changing rapidly. We want our girls to leave Mfantsiman not only with knowledge, but with the courage, confidence and adaptability to keep learning, evolving and leading wherever they find themselves,” she said.
