The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has intensified efforts to expand educational infrastructure across his constituency, commissioning and inspecting several new school projects aimed at easing classroom congestion and improving learning standards.
Over the weekend, the legislator, the former Minister of Works and Housing, inspected a newly completed six-unit classroom block with an attached six-seater water closet toilet facility at Akim-Anyinase.
The facility, which is now ready for use, is expected to provide relief to pupils and teachers who have long battled overcrowded and dilapidated classrooms.
According to Oppong Nkrumah, the intervention goes beyond just erecting structures.
“This is not just a new block; it is an investment in the future of our children,” he said during the inspection.
“We are determined to ensure that every child, no matter where they live, has access to a decent classroom and proper facilities for learning.”
A Track Record Of Education-Focused Projects
This latest initiative forms part of a broader educational agenda the MP has pursued since assuming office in 2017.
Under his stewardship, the constituency has seen multiple school infrastructure projects either built from scratch or refurbished to meet modern standards.
At Adjobue, construction works are ongoing on another six-unit classroom block, while in Abenase, a similar project has already been completed and handed over to the community.
These developments are part of a coordinated plan to provide uniform access to quality educational facilities in both rural and semi-urban parts of Ofoase Ayirebi.
At the secondary school level, work is far advanced on a two-storey dormitory block at Ayirebi Senior High School.
The project, once completed, will significantly expand boarding capacity, reduce congestion in existing dormitories, and encourage more students to further their education within the constituency.
Community Reception And Impact
Parents, teachers, and community leaders who accompanied the MP on his inspection tour expressed deep appreciation, noting that the new facilities would transform education in the area.
Many said the classrooms would not only improve the comfort of pupils but also enhance teaching and learning outcomes by eliminating the distractions of overcrowding and poor sanitation.
For communities such as Akim-Anyinase and Abenase, these interventions are therefore seen as game-changers.
