Barely days after the emotional funeral and burial of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has unveiled an ambitious month-long programme of spiritual, charitable and educational activities aimed at celebrating the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of one of Ghana’s greatest inventors, industrialists and religious leaders.
Dubbed “Kantanka Month 2026,” the nationwide observance is expected to bring together thousands of church members, traditional leaders, students, youth groups and admirers of the late Apostle in a series of events designed to promote faith, unity, innovation and community service.
The announcement comes at a time when the Mission is seeking to shift public attention from the recent family disagreements and legal battles surrounding Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s funeral to the ideals and values that defined his lifetime of service to God and humanity.
Honouring a National Icon
The annual celebration has been instituted to preserve the memory and achievements of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who founded the Kristo Asafo Mission and transformed it into one of the most influential indigenous Christian movements.
Beyond his religious work, Apostle Kwadwo Safo earned international recognition for promoting indigenous industrialisation through the Kantanka Group of Companies, pioneering locally manufactured vehicles, engineering innovations, agricultural projects and technological inventions that inspired many young Ghanaians.
Church leaders say the month-long celebration will focus not only on remembering the late Apostle’s spiritual teachings but also on encouraging members to embrace his vision of innovation, discipline, self-reliance and national development.
Month-Long Activities Begin
According to the official programme released by the Kristo Asafo Mission, activities commenced on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with a Vespers Service featuring prayer and fasting held simultaneously across the Mission’s various branches.
The spiritual exercises are intended to prepare members for the weeks of worship and reflection dedicated to the late founder.
The next major event will be held on Saturday, August 8, when members from across the country are expected to converge at Great Asase, Awoshie, for the National Intercessory Prayer Joint Service, where prayers will be offered for the church, the nation and the continued growth of the Mission.
Feast of Love and Charity Week
One of the highlights of the celebration will be the annual Feast of Love, locally known as “Ɔdɔ Adidie,” scheduled for Saturday, August 15.
The event will be observed simultaneously in Kristo Asafo branches and districts nationwide, reinforcing the church’s emphasis on love, unity and fellowship among members.
The Mission will also dedicate the week of August 17 to August 22 as Founder’s Charity Week, during which members will undertake humanitarian activities and make donations in memory of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
As part of the charity programme, an annual donation exercise has been scheduled for Thursday, August 20, at Assumagya, continuing one of the charitable traditions associated with the church’s founder.
Pastoral Conference and Kantanka Day
Church leaders and ministers from across the country will assemble on Tuesday, August 25, for the annual Pastoral Conference at Great Asase, Awoshie.
The conference is expected to focus on strengthening church administration, spiritual growth and the continued propagation of Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s teachings.
The following day, Wednesday, August 26, has been designated Kantanka Day, one of the flagship events of the celebration.
Activities planned for the day include a National Donation Exercise, another Feast of Love, and National Youth Games, featuring both indoor competitions and outdoor athletics designed to encourage fellowship and healthy competition among the youth.
Thanksgiving and Grand Finale
The celebration will continue on Saturday, August 29, with a nationwide Thanksgiving Service alongside the official launch of Sabbath School Children’s Week across the Mission’s branches.
The month-long programme will climax on Sunday, September 6, with the Sabbath School Week Climax and Regional/District Sabbath School Day Celebration.
The grand finale will feature a technology exhibition, reflecting Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s passion for science and innovation, a graduation ceremony and a colourful cultural display, bringing together the spiritual, educational and technological ideals he championed throughout his life.
Call for Unity
In announcing the programme, the Kristo Asafo Mission urged members and the general public to participate fully in the celebration.
Quoting Psalm 133:1—”Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity”—the church called on members to devote the period to prayer, worship, fellowship and acts of charity.
According to the Mission, the celebration is intended to deepen the faith of members, strengthen unity within the church and inspire future generations through the remarkable legacy of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
