The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old suspect, Robert Kwabena Boamah, in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old woman, Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena.
The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso, in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
The Incident
The police received a distress call on Monday, April 21, 2025, from the Tanoso Electoral area in the Kwadaso Municipality, reporting that a female adult had been found dead near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex, Dominase.
A team of police officers responded to the scene, where the deceased was identified by family members.
The body was found with multiple stab wounds, and an abandoned Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS8575-Y was discovered at the scene with its ignition key still in place.
Investigation And Arrest
Preliminary investigations established that the abandoned vehicle belonged to the suspect, Robert Kwabena Boamah.
The police tracked him down and arrested him at his hideout.
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to committing the crime.
However, after his arrest, the suspect appeared weak and confessed to attempting to take his own life by drinking a bottle of weedicide.
He was immediately taken to the Abuakwa Polyclinic, where he received treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Current Status
Efforts are currently underway to arraign the suspect before court to face justice.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and will continue to pursue justice for victims of violent crime.
The police command’s swift action in arresting the suspect has brought relief to the family and loved ones of the deceased, and the community at large.
