Ghanaian rap superstar Sarkodie has once again placed himself at the centre of the country’s music conversation after bringing his Rapperholic Homecoming concert to Kumasi’s Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with attention now shifting to his next major international performance at London’s O2 Arena in March 2027.
The 2026 edition of Rapperholic marked Sarkodie’s second concert at the 40,528-capacity stadium, reinforcing the event’s growing reputation as one of Ghana’s major annual music experiences. The Kumasi performance brought together fans to celebrate the rapper’s catalogue, career achievements and influence on Ghanaian hip-hop.
Sarkodie Takes Over Kumasi Streets
Ahead of the concert, Sarkodie made a striking appearance on the streets and in local markets as part of the Kumasi Rising 2.0 initiative, also described as the Rising Walk.
The activity offered the rapper an opportunity to interact with fans, generate excitement around Rapperholic Homecoming and build anticipation for the stadium show.
His appearance in the commercial areas of Kumasi became part of the wider promotional campaign surrounding the concert.
The approach highlighted the importance of connecting with audiences beyond digital publicity, particularly in a city with a strong musical identity and a passionate entertainment following.
Traditional Visit Adds Cultural Significance
Before taking to the stage, Sarkodie also paid a traditional visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as part of his activities in Kumasi.
Following the concert, Sarkodie expressed his appreciation for the reception he received from fans in Kumasi.
In an interview with Kessben TV, the rapper reportedly described the crowd’s energy as overwhelming, saying he would never get over the experience.
London’s O2 Arena Becomes the Next Major Test
With the Kumasi concert behind him, Sarkodie is expected to turn his attention to London, where he is scheduled to perform at the O2 Arena in March 2027.
However, the ultimate significance of the London performance will depend on the scale of the event, audience response and the wider impact it has on the visibility of Ghanaian music internationally.
Rapperholic has become one of the defining events associated with Sarkodie’s career, offering the rapper an annual platform to perform his music, collaborate with other artistes and engage his supporters.
