A targeted police operation in the Volta Region has led to the arrest of three suspected members of a robbery network operating in Akatsi and surrounding communities, as authorities escalate efforts to curb rising criminal activity in the area.
The operation, carried out by a special team under the direction of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, followed a series of reported robbery incidents that have heightened security concerns among residents in recent weeks.
According to police sources, the first suspect, Enoch Adoglo, was arrested on April 21, 2026, at Gavekope. Acting on intelligence gathered during the operation, officers extended their search to the outskirts of the same community, where they apprehended a second suspect, Cephas Aniwaa, a blacksmith believed to be involved in the fabrication and supply of weapons used by the group.
A third suspect, David Adzinu, was also arrested in connection with the case.
A subsequent search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. Items recovered include seven single-barrel rifles, five locally manufactured pistols, one revolver, and assorted ammunition comprising 64 rounds of ACP ammunition, 11 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and four rounds of 7.62 x 51 ammunition.

Officers also recovered four live BB cartridges, 18 spent BB cartridges, three mobile phones, and tools believed to be used in weapon production.
Investigators say the arrests form part of a broader intelligence-led operation targeting an organised network suspected to be behind multiple robbery attacks in Akatsi and nearby areas.
Police have since identified additional suspects, including one Mensah Kedzi, described as a key figure linked to a robbery incident that occurred on April 3, 2026.
He remains at large, along with other accomplices named as Akakpo, an ex-convict, and a suspect identified as Ageh.
The police say efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects as part of a wider strategy to dismantle the network and restore security in the affected communities.
