As the political landscape gradually shifts toward the next electoral cycle, former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, continues to enjoy strong support from many Ghanaians who believe his leadership offers hope for the future of the country.
Across communities, towns and cities, supporters of Dr. Bawumia remain optimistic about his prospects and the vision he has consistently outlined for the development.
Many elderly men and women who have witnessed the country’s political evolution over several decades say they see in him a leader capable of driving the next phase of national transformation.
For many within the NPP and beyond, Dr. Bawumia has built a reputation as a politician associated with innovation, technology-driven governance, and forward-looking policies.
Throughout his years as Vice President, he championed several digital transformation initiatives which supporters argue modernized public service delivery, improved financial inclusion, and positioned Ghana as one of Africa’s emerging digital economies.
His wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, has also become a prominent figure in national life through her advocacy for women, youth empowerment, education, and social development.
Together, the couple has cultivated an image that resonates with many Ghanaians who see them as symbols of service, humility, and dedication to national progress.
Following his emphatic victory in the NPP’s presidential primary earlier this year, Dr. Bawumia has intensified efforts to unite the party and prepare it for the 2028 general elections.
His post-primary activities have included consultations with party elders, former presidential aspirants, Members of Parliament, religious leaders, traditional authorities, diplomats, and civil society organizations as part of a broader strategy to rebuild confidence and strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes.
The former Vice President has repeatedly emphasized the need for unity, reconciliation, and policy innovation, arguing that the NPP must present practical solutions to the challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians.
Through speeches delivered at party gatherings, international forums, and stakeholder engagements, he has outlined a vision centered on economic transformation, technological advancement, job creation, youth empowerment, and good governance.
Supporters believe these ideas offer a compelling alternative for the future and have expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia possesses the experience, competence, and leadership qualities needed to guide Ghana through an increasingly competitive global environment.
