A devastating incident of suspected food poisoning has claimed the lives of a food vendor and her two-year-old son in Atibie, in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The victims, identified as Taanii and her young son, were found unresponsive in their home, prompting a police investigation.
According to reports, the family of four had gone about their routine activities the day before the incident, selling food and returning home peacefully.
However, in the morning, they couldn’t wake up, and the landlord, Osarfo Wiafe Emmanuel, discovered the tragedy.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary at the Kwahu Government Hospital, Atibie, where they await a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The police are currently investigating the incident, while the two other family members who were found in critical condition are receiving intensive medical care at the same hospital.
