Some ward executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashaiman Constituency have shut down a public toilet facility at the Nii Tetteh Amui Electoral Area following disagreements over its ownership and the management of revenue generated from its operations.
The decision to close the facility stems from growing tensions among some party executives, who are demanding clarification over who has the legitimate authority to manage the facility and how money collected from users has been accounted for.
The ward executives have raised concerns about the alleged misappropriation of revenue, insisting that funds generated from the public facility must be properly managed and accounted for by those responsible for its day-to-day operations.
Some of the executives who spoke to Asaase News expressed frustration over what they described as a lack of accountability surrounding the facility, arguing that the ownership dispute and questions about the utilisation of the revenue could no longer be ignored.
They are consequently demanding transparency from the individuals involved in its management and want the circumstances surrounding its ownership established to prevent further disagreements.
The shutdown has brought the dispute into public attention, with the affected executives maintaining that the matter must be resolved and proper accountability established before the facility’s operations can resume.
