The Mpohor community was filled with solemnity as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana, led a high-profile delegation to attend the funeral of the late Obaapayin Maame Asiedua Nketsiah, affectionately known as Auntie Yaa.
The event, held in the Mpohor constituency, was a significant occasion that brought together political leaders, family members, and sympathizers to honour the life of the departed matriarch.
Dr. Bawumia, who was accompanied by a number of influential figures, including Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for the Asante Akim North and lawyer Egyapa Mercer, the former MP for Sekondi, offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Also present at the event were Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah, MP for Takoradi and other prominent NPP members, as well as several Regional and constituency executives.
Auntie Yaa, the mother of former Member of Parliament for Mpohor,. John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie, was remembered by many for her role in the community and her contribution to the political landscape through her son.
The funeral ceremony was a fitting tribute to a woman who was beloved by many.
In addition to the high-ranking politicians, several Members of Parliament (MPs), former MPs, and other members of the NPP attended the funeral service.
The gathering not only highlighted the respect and admiration held for the late Obaapayin Maame Asiedua Nketsiah but also underscored the deep ties between the political figures and the Mpohor community.
The solemn occasion was marked by speeches, prayers, and reflections on Auntie Yaa’s life.
The ceremony, which brought together people from various walks of life, was a reminder of the importance of family, community, and the enduring legacy of those who have made significant contributions to their society.
In his remarks, Dr. Bawumia praised the late matriarch’s legacy and commended her family, particularly John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie, for continuing her work in public service.
The former Vice President further extended his heartfelt sympathy to the family and assured them of support during their time of grief.
