By Daniel Bampoe

The Accra Regional Police Command has successfully arrested, prosecuted, and convicted a robbery gang responsible for two major incidents within the Greater Accra Region.

The gang, consisting of five members, was involved in two separate robbery incidents, including the Jos Bakery robbery at Dome and another robbery at ACP Junction.
On May 11, 2025, at about 1:25 a.m., two armed men, Isaac Agbezudor alias “Money Man” and Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong alias “Gariba Manta” or “Demon”, attacked staff at the Jos Bakery Head Office located in Dome, a suburb of Accra.

The suspects, riding an unlicensed motorbike, fired a locally made pistol into the air to instill fear in the victims and made away with a Tecno Pop 8 smartphone valued at GH₵1,500 and a handbag containing personal effects.
The Regional Police command launched investigations into the incident, which led to the arrest of Isaac Agbezudor on May 14, 2025, through a covert operation.

After vigorous interrogation, Isaac Agbezudor’s confession led to the retrieval of key exhibits, including the motorbike and clothing used in the operation, and the identification of his accomplice.
Gariba Manta was arrested on May 22, 2025, and the pistol and live ammunition used in the robbery were retrieved.

Both suspects were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment, with Isaac Agbezudor receiving 10 years and Gariba Manta receiving 15 years.

The ACP Junction Robbery

Further investigations linked Gariba Manta to a separate robbery incident that occurred on February 5, 2025, at ACP Junction, near Kwabenya.

Together with three other accomplices, Bright Alikor alias “Zaamani”, Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey alias “Chameleon”, and Prince Owusu alias “Check Boy”, they robbed a female victim of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Samsung tablet, and GH₵6,000 in cash, using a knife and scissors.

The victim sustained knife wounds during the attack.

All three accomplices were arrested and convicted, receiving 15 years’ imprisonment each.

The Accra Regional Police Command commends the dedication of its intelligence and operations teams for their swift actions in arresting and securing convictions against all five suspects.

The Police continue to urge the public to provide credible information to support ongoing efforts to fight crime, assuring utmost safety and confidentiality in all engagements.
