In the wake of viral online speculation, Portia Acheampong Abronye, wife of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has publicly dismissed reports suggesting she is seeking a divorce from her husband.
The rumours originated from a video circulating on a YouTube channel titled “The Debate with Munufie”, where an individual claimed that Mrs. Abronye had filed, or was in the process of filing, for divorce over unspecified disagreements.
Responding through a formal statement, Mrs. Abronye described the allegations as “baseless, unfounded, and misleading.”
She categorically denied that she had initiated any divorce proceedings, emphasizing that the claims were fabricated to tarnish her reputation and mislead the public.
“The broadcast, along with claims attributed to a supposed relative named Adwoa Akyaa, are complete falsehoods,” Mrs. Abronye said.
“I would ordinarily not dignify such allegations with a response, but because this touches on my marriage—a private and sacred institution—I am compelled to set the record straight.”
Mrs. Abronye also criticized the integrity of the YouTube channel responsible for spreading the story, accusing the operator of prioritizing traffic and profit over truth and responsible reporting.
She called the content “malicious propaganda” intended to exploit public attention.
The legal practitioner further revealed that her current focus remains on securing bail for her husband, who is facing trial, and indicated that she would consider taking legal action against those circulating defamatory statements once the immediate legal matters are resolved.
