As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for a defining moment in its political future, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has intensified his engagement with party delegates, projecting unity, renewal, and collective responsibility as the pillars of his bid to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
Speaking after a series of engagements in the Ayawaso North, Ayawaso East and Ayawaso Central constituencies, Dr. Bawumia assured party faithful that the task of rebuilding the NPP would not rest on one individual but on a shared commitment from all members.
He stressed that restoring the party to what he described as its “rightful place” would require cohesion, sacrifice, and renewed faith in the party’s founding values.

The former Vice President, who is seeking the party’s flagbearerhip slot ahead of the January 31 internal elections, used the interaction to thank grassroots supporters for what he described as unwavering loyalty and tireless mobilisation.
In a message shared after the visit, he expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the groundwork being done by party members at the constituency level, describing their efforts as central to the party’s resurgence.
“This is a journey with all and for all,” Dr. Bawumia stated, adding that victory in the internal contest would be the first step toward rebuilding the NPP and repositioning it as a strong, united political force.
He maintained that only collective effort and discipline could return the party to electoral victory in the years ahead.
His campaign momentum was further evident during an earlier stop in the Tema East Constituency, where delegates openly declared their support for his candidature.

In a show of confidence rarely seen in internal party contests, party members reportedly told Dr. Bawumia that campaigning in the area was unnecessary, as their decision had already been made.
Chants of “Bawumia no change” filled the venue, underscoring the depth of support he enjoys among sections of the party base.

The enthusiastic reception, particularly from grassroots delegates, signals growing momentum for the former Vice President as the NPP positions itself for a highly competitive flagbearer race.
