The founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has sparked fresh public debate after revealing that he has severed ties with actress Benedicta Gafah over what he describes as disrespect shown towards his wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim.
The outspoken preacher made the disclosure during a church service, where he spoke extensively about loyalty, marriage, and the growing influence of certain individuals within his wife’s social circle.
According to Bishop Obinim, his decision to block Benedicta Gafah was triggered by reports of a misunderstanding between the actress and Florence Obinim.
The preacher stated that he was deeply hurt by what he perceived as disrespect directed at his wife and immediately decided to distance himself from the actress.
“The very day I heard that our sister Benedicta Gafah had some misunderstanding with Florence Obinim, I was hurt by the way she disrespected Florence, so I blocked her,” he told his congregation.
The revelation comes at a time when Bishop Obinim has increasingly made his family life a subject of public discussion.
In recent weeks, the controversial preacher generated widespread reactions after publicly outlining how he wants his funeral to be organized in the event of his death.
During that address, Obinim stated that only his children and church members should take charge of his funeral arrangements, effectively excluding his wife from playing a leading role.
The comments generated significant public backlash and prompted a response from Florence Obinim, who said she was not surprised by her husband’s remarks but was grateful he had made his wishes known while alive.
Despite those earlier comments, Obinim’s latest remarks suggest he remains committed to defending his wife against perceived attacks from outsiders.
The preacher questioned how many men could publicly declare loyalty to one woman, insisting that Florence remains the only woman in his life.
He argued that his decision to cut ties with Benedicta Gafah demonstrated his commitment to protecting his marriage.
However, the preacher did not stop there.
In a separate church address, Obinim raised concerns about what he described as Florence Obinim’s changing circle of friends.
According to him, his wife was previously reserved and preferred a quiet lifestyle but has recently surrounded herself with individuals he believes may not have her best interests at heart.

“My wife, Florence Obinim’s current circle of friends she rolls with is not the best. I am currently scared. My wife was an introvert who didn’t like too many friends, but now the team,” he stated.
The comments have fueled further debate on social media, where users remain divided over whether the preacher’s remarks amount to concern for his family or an attempt to publicly control his wife’s associations.
The controversy has also drawn comparisons to the ongoing family tensions surrounding the estate of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
Several social media users referenced the influence of online groups and factions involved in the musician’s family disputes, with some suggesting Obinim’s comments reflected fears about similar external influences affecting his own household.
Since Daddy Lumba’s death in July 2025, disagreements over funeral arrangements, inheritance, marital status, and family leadership have played out publicly, leading to multiple court battles and divisions among relatives and supporters.
