Daddy Lumba’s Widow Sues TikToker Maa Lizzy GH¢10m Over Defamation

BY GRACE ZIGAH

The legal battles surrounding the family of late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba have taken another turn after his widow, Akosua Serwah Fosuh, filed a GH¢10 million defamation lawsuit against popular TikTok commentator Maa Lizzy over alleged damaging statements about her personal life and character.

Fosuh is accusing the social media personality of publishing a series of false and offensive allegations that she claims have damaged her reputation, subjected her to public ridicule and undermined her standing as a professional, wife, mother and member of society.

The suit, filed at the High Court in Accra on October 15, 2026, seeks financial compensation, a public apology, the retraction of the disputed publications and a permanent court order restraining the defendant from making further similar allegations.

According to the court documents, the action was filed under suit number GJ/0050/2027. Fosuh, a professional nurse based in Germany, is pursuing the case through her lawful attorney, Rachel Kissiwaa Akowuah, with legal representation from Kllenn Law Office, headed by Francis Yaw Adiasani.

Maa Lizzy Accused of Publishing Damaging Allegations

In her statement of claim, Fosuh identifies the defendant as the operator of a TikTok account bearing the name Maa Lizzy, which reportedly had more than 320,000 followers as of October 12, 2026.

The widow alleges that Maa Lizzy repeatedly used the platform to circulate statements about her that were fabricated, offensive and defamatory.

She further claims that some of the videos were subsequently shared by other bloggers, extending the reach of the disputed allegations to audiences in Ghana and abroad.

The court documents reportedly contain the alleged statements in Twi, together with English translations to assist the court in considering their meaning and context.

Among the claims outlined in the lawsuit are allegations concerning Fosuh’s sexual conduct, personal character and previous relationships. More seriously, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant made statements suggesting that she was connected to the deaths of her former husbands and had allegedly used witchcraft and promiscuity against the late musician.

Fosuh strongly rejects these claims, describing them as untrue and damaging to her reputation. She argues that the publications were capable of exposing her to hatred, humiliation, ridicule and embarrassment, particularly given the attention surrounding her marriage to the late highlife musician.

Widow Says Public Attacks Have Damaged Her Reputation

The plaintiff maintains that she spent years building a respectable reputation as a professional, wife, mother and member of society in Ghana, Germany and elsewhere.

She argues that the alleged publications have undermined the dignity and reputation she worked hard to establish, affecting how she is perceived within her family, professional environment and the wider community.

The lawsuit also comes against the background of public disagreements and discussions surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death, his family and the identity of his surviving wife.

Fosuh has increasingly been associated with the expression “Team Legal Wife” amid the public debate surrounding her marital status and position within the late musician’s family.

GH¢10m Compensation and Public Apology Demanded

Beyond seeking financial compensation, Fosuh wants the High Court to formally declare the alleged statements false and defamatory.

She is asking for GH¢10 million in general damages, including aggravated damages, in addition to legal costs and any other relief the court considers appropriate.

The widow is also seeking a perpetual injunction restraining Maa Lizzy, her agents and assigns from publishing the disputed statements or making further similar allegations about her.

Another key demand is an unconditional public apology and retraction of the publications. Fosuh wants the apology to receive prominence and visibility comparable to the original content, particularly on TikTok and other social media platforms where the alleged statements were circulated.

Her position is that a financial award alone would not adequately address the reputational damage she claims to have suffered unless the disputed publications are also withdrawn and publicly corrected. The writ of summons directs Maa Lizzy to enter an appearance within eight days of being served with the court documents.

Under the terms stated in the writ, failure to comply within the stipulated period could allow the plaintiff to pursue proceedings and seek judgment in the defendant’s absence, subject to the applicable court rules.

Another Legal Battle Emerging From Daddy Lumba’s Family Dispute

The lawsuit adds to the series of public and legal developments surrounding the family of Daddy Lumba following his death. The celebrated musician’s passing has been followed by intense public discussions involving his marriage, family relationships and the competing narratives surrounding his private life.
