Fresh controversy has erupted within the family of late highlife icon Daddy Lumba, after his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, publicly outlined who should benefit from the musician’s estate—triggering intense reactions online.
Her remarks come as tensions continue to simmer over control of Daddy Lumba’s wealth, months after his passing on July 26, 2025, which set off one of the most high-profile family disputes in the entertainment history.
Only Immediate Family Should Benefit
Speaking in a video circulating on April 13, 2026, Ernestina Fosuh took a firm position on the distribution of her late brother’s properties, insisting that only his immediate family—his wife, children, and close relatives—should inherit his estate.
She rejected claims from extended family members and other interested parties, arguing that individuals who were not present during the family’s struggles should not benefit from the musician’s lifetime earnings.
Her comments have been widely interpreted as a direct challenge to opposing factions within the family, particularly those aligned with the former family head, Victor Kofi Owusu Boahen.
A Family Divided
Since Daddy Lumba’s death, disputes over his estate have been at the centre of a broader family conflict involving his spouses, siblings, and extended relatives.
Early disagreements emerged over funeral arrangements and calls for an autopsy, with Ernestina Fosuh and other immediate family members pushing for further investigations into the cause of death.
However, these efforts faced resistance from the Abusuapanin, who proceeded with funeral plans.
Attempts by Ernestina to halt the burial through the Accra High Court were unsuccessful, while a separate legal action by Akosua Serwaa Fosuh seeking sole spousal recognition was also dismissed by a Kumasi High Court, which instead recognised multiple spouses.
Estate Control Remains A Flashpoint
At the heart of the ongoing feud is control over Daddy Lumba’s considerable assets, which include properties, businesses, and intellectual rights built over decades.
Current dynamics within the family suggest that another faction—reportedly aligned with his second wife, Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni), and the Abusuapanin—has maintained significant influence over estate matters, a situation that has been strongly contested by Ernestina Fosuh and her allies.
Public Reaction And Rising Tensions
Ernestina’s latest comments have ignited widespread debate on social media, with many Ghanaians weighing in on issues of inheritance, family hierarchy, and fairness.
While some have supported her stance as a defence of the nuclear family’s rights, others argue that Ghanaian customary systems often recognise broader family structures, making the issue more complex.
