Dzidzor Mensah Petitions Ghana Police, Alleges Threats To Her Life Over Child Paternity Dispute With NDC General Secretary

By Nadia Ntiamoah

Former HIV/AIDS ambassador and social media personality Joyce Dzidzor Mensah has publicly petitioned the Ghana Police Service, alleging that her life and that of her 10-year-old son are in danger following what she describes as a long-running paternity dispute involving the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

In a public statement addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), with copies sent to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), the Ghana Embassy in Germany, Amnesty International, the BBC and several Ghanaian media organisations, Joyce said she decided to break her silence because she fears for her safety and believes her child also faces potential danger.

Joyce, who currently resides in Hamburg, Germany, alleged that she was in a relationship with Fifi Fiavi Kwetey approximately 11 years ago and that the relationship resulted in the birth of their son, who currently lives with her in Germany.

According to her, the child has allegedly been without support from Kwetey for the past decade. She further claimed that he asked her to keep the matter private to avoid any damage to his political career.

Joyce also alleged that after questions were raised over the child’s paternity, Kwetey requested a DNA test. She said she agreed to undergo the test on the condition that it would be conducted legally in Germany, where she and the child reside.

However, she claimed that the process was never completed because he allegedly became unavailable.

She further explained that, in an effort to resolve what she described as a long-standing family dispute, she recently travelled from Germany to Ghana without informing Kwetey of her arrival.

According to Joyce, she visited the elders of the Nogokpo shrine, which she described as Kwetey’s ancestral home, to present the matter before them in the hope of finding a resolution.

However, she alleged that events took a frightening turn shortly after her arrival.

Joyce claimed that unidentified men riding motorcycles began monitoring and following her movements while she was in Nogokpo. She alleged that she feared for her life and eventually managed to escape the area before returning safely to Germany.

Describing the experience as traumatic, Joyce said she now believes it is unsafe for her to return to Ghana.

She disclosed that on June 23, 2026, she submitted what she described as an official complaint to the Ghana Police Service through the Service’s official email address, requesting an investigation into the alleged incidents.

According to her, after receiving no response to the complaint, she decided to make the matter public through her social media platforms in the interest of transparency.

In her petition, Joyce called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the alleged armed stalking and intimidation she claimed to have experienced in Nogokpo.

She also appealed to investigators to determine whether there were any connections between the unidentified individuals she encountered and Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

Additionally, she requested protection for herself and her family against what she described as possible political retaliation.

Joyce stated that she is willing to cooperate fully with Ghanaian law enforcement authorities remotely from Germany and said she is prepared to provide travel records, child-related documents and any other evidence required through officially verified police channels.

She concluded her statement by insisting that speaking publicly was necessary for her protection.

“My platform is my protection. I will not be silenced, and I will not let my child be erased or threatened,” she stated.

The latest allegations add to a series of highly publicised controversies involving Joyce Dzidzor Mensah over the years. Once celebrated nationally for her work as an HIV/AIDS ambassador, Joyce has remained a prominent and often controversial public figure, attracting public attention through various personal disclosures and social media statements.

Earlier this year, she resurfaced after months away from public view, alleging that she had been abducted in Togo and held against her will before escaping. Those claims also generated widespread public discussion.
