The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested a man identified as Hanson Osei for illegally operating a makeshift clinic from his residence at Yeji Zongo in the Pru East District.

Police say the suspect, who posed as a medical practitioner, had been practicing without a license for more than a decade.

He was arrested on 28th September 2025 following intelligence that he was providing medical services to unsuspecting residents.

Investigators revealed that Osei had converted his chamber-and-hall apartment into an improvised clinic, where he allegedly treated patients and administered injections.

A search of the premises uncovered several used and expired clinical items, including syringes, malaria injection bottles, infusion rubber sachets, and other medical materials believed to have been used on patients.

According to police sources, the discovery raised serious public health concerns as the conditions of the makeshift clinic were unhygienic and posed a risk of infection to the community.

Eleven Years Without Certification

During interrogation, Osei reportedly confessed to running the illegal clinic for the past 11 years.

He admitted that he had no medical training or certification from any recognized institution but had been relying on self-acquired knowledge to administer treatment.

His long-running practice has shocked many residents, some of whom are feared to have unknowingly risked their lives under his care.

Court Proceedings

The suspect was arraigned before the Tuobodom District Court on 30th September 2025 and was remanded into police custody.

He is expected to reappear before the court on 6th October 2025 as investigations continue.

Police say further inquiries are being conducted to establish whether any deaths or severe health complications in the area can be linked to his operations.
