Renowned Ghanaian broadcaster and women’s rights advocate Gifty Anti has shared a deeply personal account of her journey to motherhood, revealing the emotional and medical challenges she endured before welcoming her first child at the age of 47.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News, she described the experience from pregnancy to childbirth as “scary,” noting that her path to becoming a mother was far from straightforward.

According to her, she underwent multiple medical treatments, including several unsuccessful in vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts, before eventually conceiving.

Gifty Anti disclosed that her journey required significant medical intervention, explaining that she had never hidden the fact that she relied on treatment rather than natural conception.

She recounted how the process involved repeated efforts and physical strain, leaving her with lasting reminders of what she went through.

At one point, she said, the uncertainty surrounding her chances of conceiving led her to consider adoption.

She revealed that she had reached a stage where she was prepared to embrace that option if pregnancy did not happen.

Her breakthrough came after consulting fertility specialist Dr Paddy Ayitey, who encouraged her to try again. Following further treatment, she successfully conceived, an outcome she attributes to both medical support and faith.

Reflecting on the journey, Gifty Anti highlighted the emotional, physical, and spiritual toll that fertility struggles can have on women, while also offering a message of hope to others facing similar challenges.
